Arctic Football Team Bodø/Glimt with New Feat in the Champions League

Bodø/Glimt played brilliantly with a 3-0 win against Sporting, in yet another sensational match in the Champions League.

On Wednesday, Arctic football team Bodø/Glimt hosted the Portuguese team Sporting Lisbon for the first of two matches in the Round of 16 in the Champions League. 

Glimt advanced to the round of 16 in the prestigious tournament after a historic night at San Siro in Milan, when the team from Northern Norway secured a 5-2 aggregate against Inter. 

Strong play in the first half

On Wednesday night at Aspmyra Stadium, Bodø/Glimt started strong in what became yet another sensational match in the High North.  

Glimt put pressure on the Portuguese team from the start, and in the first part of the half, Glimt is close to scoring with a number of big chances.

After 30 minutes played, Glimt gets a penalty after goal check, when Sondre Brunstad Fet is shoved down inside Sporting's box. 

Fet places the ball in the right corner and Glimt leads 1-0 at Aspmyra! 

Just before the break, Glimt does it again. The yellows double their lead when Ole Didrik Blomberg scores after 46 minutes of play.

Stuns Sporting

At the start of the second half, both teams get several chances. 

Wild scenes however unfold again at Aspmyra when Glimt's Kasper Høgh directs the ball into the net as Jens Petter Hauge sends the ball in from the left. 

At the end of the match, it's 3-0 to Glimt and the yellows ensure yet another feat in the Champions League. 

The return match against Sporting will be played on 17 March at Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon.

Historic

Glimt continues to stun several opponents in the Champions League this season.

The team from the High North secured advancement in the Champions League after a victory against Atletico Madrid at the end of January, and among other things, beat Manchester City 3-1 at Aspmyra earlier that same month.

Glimt also became the first Norwegian team to win in the knockout rounds of the Champions League.
