"Reaching out to communities across Norway to expand US-Norway ties", says the US Embassy in Oslo's message on Linkedin Friday.

The US Embassay Acting Deputy Chief of Mission, Jamal Al-Mussawi "hopped a flight to Bodø" to meet mayor Odd-Emil Ingebrigtsen and to discuss current and future developments in the municipality.

"Among other things, the construction of Bodø's new civil airport. Exciting things are happening in the north!", writes the embassy.

Mayor Ingebrigtsen says in his comment that Bodø has been a strategically important place in the High North since the Second World War.

"It is important for us to keep in close contact with our closest ally also at municipal level."
