Following recent elections in Greenland, it is now clear that the parties IA and Naleraq will form a two-party coalition to create a government, according to Sermitsiaq. The two control 16 of the 31 seats in Inatsisartut, the Greenlandic parliament.
The Atassut party has opted to support the coalition from outside the government, as it does not agree to work towards independence, unlike IA and Naleraq. Atassut controls two seats in the Inatsisartut.
The new coalition a.o. wants to introduce a tax reform and adopt a new law of fisheries, creates a separate Department of Children and Families, will not privatize Royal Greenland, and wants to take back EU fish quotas in Greenlandic waters.
Mute B. Egede from IA will chair the new self-rule government and thus be its Naalakkersuisoq. The new government will have ten members; two from Naleraq and eight from IA.
