30 research buoys from the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research (HI) have disappeared suddenly from two fjords in Finnmark county, according to iLaks.no. The Institute uses the buoys in a research project focusing on how fish farming affects natural cod stocks.

Some of the missing research buoys have been found, but not many.

- We do not know why they suddenly disappeared, says ocean researcher Pål Arne Bjørn to iLaks. He says he has no reason to suspect foul play.
