The Norwegian Ministry of Justice and Preparedness proposes a new regulation about shooting ban on Svalbard. The goal is to better distinguish between areas in which weapons are frequently used for hunting, and areas where people either live or reside, or areas frequently used for outdoor activity and recreation.
The Ministry suggests that the shooting ban zone around Longyearbyen is expanded, and also proposes new shooting ban zones in Barentsburg, included Vannposten [the Water Post], and in Pyramiden.
The hearing deadline is 10 July.
