On 30 October, the Nordic Council Award Ceremony takes place in the Oslo Opera House. Presenters include Crown Princess Mette Marit of Norway, Prime Minister Erna Solberg and actor Jakob Oftebro.

Each year, the Nordic Council awards prizes in literature, environment, child- and youth literature, film and music. The award winners receive the Northern Lights statuette as well as DKK 340,000.
