The new airport currently under construction in Nuuk, Greenland is delayed, according to KNR. It was supposed to be ready by 2023, however, current completion estimation date is in the autumn of 2024.

CEO of Kalaallit Airports Jens Laurdsen says that the Covid-19 situation in particular has caused unpredicted challenges leading to the delay.

Late May and early June this year, infection started spreading amongst airport construction staff. In addition, specialists and other workers at suppliers have been prevented from traveling to Nuuk due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
