The Nunavut government plans to soon release a new recruitment and retention strategy for nurses, Nunatsiaq News reports. This will be the first such strategy since 2008.
The hope is that this new package of incentives will help remedy the chronic shortage of nurses in Nunavut, said Jennifer Berry, the Government of Nunavut’s chief nursing officer.
The new plan is different from the 2008 plan in a series of ways and addresses a wider range of incentives than just financial issues.
At present, there is only one program in Canada to train and provide certification for remote nursing.
