The Norwegian State has responded to the pre-warning from Finnmark County Council about its considering initiating a court case about the validity of the Norwegian parliament’s decision to merge Troms and Finnmark counties.
The Attorney General writes that according to the State’s position, there is no foundation for such a case, neither legally nor factually.
The AG argues that the pre-warning goes further than the legal foundation permits, and also states that the process leading up to the parliament’s decision of 8 June, 2017 was thorough and extensive enough to provide the parliament with sufficient foundation for making an informed decision.
