In order to reduce problems both at fish landing plants and in the markets as a consequence of the Corona situation, the Norwegian government now allows fishermen to transfer up to ten percent of their cod quota to next year.
This will contribute to spreading cod fisheries in a situation in which reception capacity as well as the market situation are unclear, according to Fisheries and Seafood Minister Odd Emil Ingebrigtsen.
A temporary transfer scheme was put in place in 2020 following the Corona outbreak. This scheme is now continued for one more year on the same conditions as before.
