"Norwegian fishers make good use of the quotas in Greenland, and I am pleased that Norway and Greenland have agreed on a quota agreement for 2023," says Minister of Trade and Industry Bjørnar Selnes Skjæran (Labor) in a press release.
Greenland's Barents Sea quota for 2023 is set to 4 000 tonnes of cod, 750 tonnes of pollock, and 425 tonnes of bycatch of other species. The Norwegian cod quota is 1350 tonnes and the halibut quota is 30 tonnes.
The Norwegian halibut quota of 900 tonnes in West Greenland and 375 tonnes in East Greenland will be carried forward. The quota for roundnose grenadier in East Greenland will be 50 tonnes and the quota for bottom-dwelling redfish will be continued at 500 tonnes. the quota for bycatch is continued at 325 tonnes.
Norway and Greenland also agree to continue their good research collaboration.
