For the first time ever, Norway and Great Britain have entered into a bilateral fisheries agreement. The agreement includes mutual access to each other’s waters, and quota swapping.
Norway and Great Britain agree on mutual access to catch 30,000 tons of bottom fish in the opposite party’s zone in 2022. They have also agreed on the catching of herring in both countries’ zones, as well as cod in the North Atlantic, and halibut, common ling, and cusk in the British zone outside the North Sea.
In addition, Norway has set a quota of 65,550 tons of cod for 2022 for vessels from Great Britain fishing in the Fish Protection Zone around Svalbard.
