Through the Research Council of Norway, the Norwegian government allocates NOK 45 million to the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) to establish a research center for geopolitics.
The center will strengthen knowledge about international power relations, the positioning of major powers, and the influence this has on Norwegian interests and Norwegian foreign policy.
The academic and geographical focus shall be understanding great power rivalries between China, Russia, the USA, and regional power centers. It shall provide analyzes that are useful for Norwegian foreign and security policy.
The center will be led by head of research Ole Jacob Sending and is a partnership with the Fridtjof Nansen Institute, the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies, UIT The Arctic University of Norway, and the University of Oslo.
