Arctic Umiaq Line and Hurtigruten Norway are launching a new collaboration to develop tourism in Greenland.
The companies are launching three voyages on board Arctic Umiaq Line's coastal ship MS Sarfaq Ittuk, also called "Greenland's express route". The new collaboration will give guests who want to get close to the small local communities along Greenland's west coast the opportunity to do so.
Arctic Umiaq Line operates scheduled traffic with one ship that sails between Nuuk and a number of towns and villages both north and south of the Greenlandic capital.
"While Arctic Umiaq Line will continue to serve our local communities, we are also taking the lead in the development of a sustainable tourism industry here in Greenland that not only welcomes international guests but also ensures local value creation through excursions, overnight stays, and meals through close cooperation with local small businesses and entrepreneurs," says CEO Jens-Jakob Sandgreen of Arctic Umiaq Line in a press release.
