The number of landings where the value of the catch has been confiscated has doubled over the past four years. That is reported by the fisheries newspaper Kyst og fjord.
Figures from the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries show that the value of catches for which boats do not have quotas is increasingly confiscated. The boats are obliged to land all catch, even if they do not have a quota to catch it. This value of the catch is then confiscated.
Pelagic fish accounted for the highest value, while demersal fish in the north accounted for the most confiscations.
