Myre Havbruk works with Nofima to create a product lifting fish-based protein powder to a new level, according to a recent press release.
Fishmeal is not a new invention, however, producing a powder-like product almost void of smell and flavor – and doing so on an industrial scale – represents quite a challenge. In an earlier project, Nofima has developed a process securing tasty protein meal from cod spines. Now, scientists and the industry cooperate to increase this process to an industrial scale.
The fishmeal produced can be used as a supplement, and also in the industry as protein supplement for fish soup, fish burgers and other processed seafood products.
