Greenland’s new research vessel was Friday launched from the Spanish shipyard Balenciaga, according to Sermitsiaq. It is to be named ‘Tarajoq’, which means salt.
The vessel is 61 meters long and has a hull reinforced to handle ice. It has a budgeted cost of DKK 235 million.
The vessel has been designed by Norwegian company Skipsteknisk and built in Spain. It is to be handed over in the spring of 2021.
