The Danish state has reached a settlement in the case about compensation to the six remaining so-called experiment children, according to Sermitsiaq. The six were part of a group of 22 children who in the early 1950s were taken from their families and relocated to Denmark as part of a social experiment.
In May last year, the Danish government refused compensation to the six remaining children from the group who are still alive. Therefore, the six decided to sue the Danish state, which it did in December 2021.
Now, each of them will receive DKK 250,000 in compensation from the State and with that, the case comes to a close.
The purpose of sending the children off to Denmark was to provide them with Danish language and education and through doing so improving their lives.
