Greenland Re-Opens Disko Bay Flounder Fisheries

Greenland’s self-rule government, the Naalakkersuisut, has re-opened flounder fisheries in the Disko Bay after increasing the quota by 1,145 tons, according to Sermitsiaq.

The flounder quota for dinghy fisheries in the Disko Bay is 4,968 tons and the accumulated quota for dinghies and other vessels is 9,325 tons. The scientific recommendation for the Disko Bay is 5,120 tons.

The 2020 quota was increased following the annual quota being caught in full by 12 October, after which the fisheries were closed on 28 October.
