After three hours of heated debate, Greenland’s parliament – the Inatsisartut – yesterday voted to adopt a law banning exploitation of uranium in Greenland, according to Sermitsiaq.
The law also prohibits exploitation of other raw materials if their average content of uranium exceeds 100 ppm.
11 members of the Inatsisartut voted yes to the law, nine voted against, whereas the Atassut party’s two members refrained from voting.
