Greenland Expands Parental Leave

The Family and Health Committee of Greenland’s parliament suggests that paid parental leave related to childbirth or adoption shall be expanded by four weeks, and the change is to be effective from 1 January 2020, according to Sermitsiaq.

Parents who give birth to or adopt a child will under the new legislation have the right to 21 weeks of paid leave, with 25 weeks for those who have twins.

The proposal is now to be subjected to a second round of processing in parliament.
