Greenlands parliament, the Naalakkersuisut, has decided to set next year’s cod quota at 30,000 tons. That is twice the recommended amount from scientists of 14,500 tons.

Greenland’s cod stock has been decreasing over the past couple of years, despite good catches. Scientists argue that the current fishing quota regime is too high to be maintained over time, according to Sermitsiaq.
