Following a meeting between the British Embassy in Copenhagen and Greenland’s Premier Mute B. Egede, Egede says the bilateral negotiations about a free trade agreement between Great Britain and Greenland now can commence, Sermitsiaq reports.
The purpose of a FTA would be to reduce or remove British custom fees and taxes on Greenlandic fish and shellfish products when these enter Great Britain.
There has been informal dialogue between the two countries ever since it became clear that Great Britain would leave the EU.
The bilateral free trade agreement will be Greenland’s first trade agreement.
