Polaroil’s return deposit system for plastic cans in Greenland is so successful that there are more cans returned than being sold, according to Sermitsiaq.

The reason is that plastic cans that would previously be stored up or littering in nature now are returned for the deposit instead.

The cans are used to buy and sell fuel. Since November, a total of 16.128 empty cans have been returned, whereas 14.992 cans have been sold.
