Four Parties Require New Elections in Greenland

The Chairmanship of Greenland’s parliament, the Inatsisartut, yesterday received a proposal about new, extraordinary elections from four parties that combined hold a majority in the Inatsisartut, according to Sermitsiaq. The parties IA, Demokrati, Partii Naleraq and Atassut have written the proposal.

“The country needs to build bridges and the current situation is untenable, thus we present this proposal. We cannot avoid extraordinary elections as the political situation is untenable”, the four parties state.

The Inatsisartut chairmanship now has to consider the proposal and when the issue may be put on the agenda for its winter gathering. The four parties hope that it will be on the agenda as early as on Tuesday.
