Federal Support for Canadian Indigenous Recovery Program

The Canadian Federal Government Kicks in the Last $21 Million to build new facility in Kuujjuaq, according to Nunatsiaq News.

Other funding has come from Isuarsivik’s own fundraising efforts, as well as the Government of Quebec, Makivik Corp. and the Kativik Regional Government.

The Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre in Kuujjuaq just over a decade ago developed a program for Inuit, designed by Inuit. The program focuses on trauma and its relationship to substance abuse. The program also focuses on connecting its clients with their culture and the land.

The new building will allow for a higher intake and for women’s and men’s programs to run simultaneously, in separate spaces.
