The Faroe Islands will make an attempt at becoming an associated member of the World Health Organization (WHO) at the organization’s general assembly on 21 May, according to Sermitsiaq.
Denmark will apply on behalf of the Faroe Islands for associated membership. Associated members of the WHO get access to committee meetings and the general assembly, and also earn the right to speak. Only independent countries may become full-fledged members of the organization. The Faroe Islands started investigating opportunities for associated WHO membership in 2019.
An associated membership will cost an annual fee of DKK 30,000.
