Faroe Islands Discard Corona Measures

Authorities in the Faroe Islands have decided to discard all Corona measures by 1 March, despite the number of infected people being higher than it has ever been during the current pandemic, according to KNR.

In December, the daily number of infected was less than 100. In January, the same figure has been up to 727 in one day. A total of 17 inhabitants have died from or with Covid-19.

The new strategy aims for a three-step discarding of measures, with bars and restaurants being allowed to open on 1 February. After that, there will be more easing up on 15 February, before all measures are discarded on 28 February.

Almost 93 percent of inhabitants aged 12 or older have received one vaccination dose, 91 percent have received two. 48 percent of inhabitants aged 18 or older have received three vaccination doses.
