The National Electoral Commission in Iceland ruled that two of the thirteen candidacies received on Friday were invalid. This from Icelandic broadcaster RUV.
These candidates were declared valid:
- Arnar Þór Jónsson, lawyer and former judge (Independence Party)
- Ásdís Rán Gunnarsdóttir, model and entrepreneur
- Ástþór Magnússon Wium, businessman, peace activist, and perennial candidate (Democracy Movement)
- Baldur Þórhallsson, Political Science Professor (Independent)
- Eiríkur Ingi Jóhannsson, Engineer
- Halla Hrund Logadóttir, Icelandic Energy Commissioner and adjunct lecturer at Harvard University
- Halla Tómasdóttir, operational economist, teacher and candidate in the 2016 presidential election
- Helga Þórisdóttir, Data Protection Commissioner
- Jón Gnarr, actor, comedian, and former Mayor of Reykjavík (Social Democratic Alliance)
- Katrín Jakobsdóttir, former Prime Minister of Iceland (Left-Green Movement)
- Steinunn Ólína Þorsteinsdóttir, actress, TV show host, producer and writer
The election for President of Iceland will take place on 1 June 2024.
