Demand Salvaging of Grounded Vessel

Danish authorities are pressing owners of the fishing vessel Narluneq, which ran aground a rock and tilted near Qaqortoq in southern Greenland on 14 September, according to Sermitsiaq.

The vessel contains 30,000 litres of diesel, 6,000 litres of hydraulic oil and 300 liters of engine oil, and the Danish Ministry of Environment now urges the owners to present a plan for how to salvage the vessel and liquidate the oilspill risk.

The ship is already leaking a limited amount of diesel and the authorities worry about further leaks.

The ship is owned by Iluliaq Seafood, a company owned by Spanish investors and businessman Kim Høegh-Dam.
