The Knowledge Bank Northern Norway [Kunnskapsbanken Nord-Norge] reports a continued shortage of labor in the northern region.
The Expectations Report for North Norway Spring 2023 notes that recent years have shown that it has consistently been challenging to hire enough people with the right skills.
KBNN points to a varying picture, but the conclusion is clear throughout the period: More than half of the companies describe it as difficult to find qualified labor.
"More than 60 percent still think it is difficult to recruit people with the right skills. The challenge applies to all types of industries," the report says.
Last year was particularly demanding, with two out of three companies signaling that labor shortages were a problem.
At the same time, there are fewer who answer 'very difficult', but more who answer 'difficult', which gives nuance to the development picture.
"Absolutely impossible to get workers with skills. There are also fewer foreigners coming here and working, especially to Northern Norway," the report states.
