Candidate Support Signatures Rejected in Arkhangelsk

Election officials in Russia’s Arkhangelsk region have rejected a number of signatures in support of businessman Oleg Madrykin’s run for governor, according to Meduza. This will prevent him from entering the gubernatorial race leading up to elections taking place on September 11-13, 2020.

The business man from Severodvinsk was nominated by the Yabloko party and had the support of the “Stop Shiyes” coalition.

Madrykin reportedly submitted 198 signatures to the election commission, nine more than required. The Arkhangelsk Region’s Election Commission has registered six candidates to run in the elections.
