Police said on Sunday that they suspect a hunter of accidentally shooting and killing a cyclist travelling through Urho Kekkonen National Park in Lapland, according to YLE.
The Lapland police department said officers received a call shortly before 11am on Saturday, according to which a hunter had struck a cyclist while shooting. The 30-year-old from the Helsinki region had been biking through an area between Kemihaara and Korvatunturi with four other people when the incident occurred.
Hunters are always responsible for safety when shooting on public land, says Lapland regional directorof forestry, parks and wildlife agency Metsähallitus Jyrki Tolonen.
