528 Million NOK to the Green Shift

Norway: 48 research and innovation projects will, among other things, develop new environmentally friendly energy and streamline and cut CO2 emissions in the oil and gas sector. Only one of them is located in northern Norway. This is announced by the Government in a press release.

Many of the projects that receive funding in environmentally friendly energy are offshore wind and hydrogen. Knowledge and technology from the oil and gas sector is ment to drive the renewable investment.

Skaland Graphite at Senja in Troms, Northern Norway, is the only northern Norwegian project that receives funding. The company is a supplier of flake graphite products to the global market.

Amongst the others, five new projects will contribute to the development of a sustainable Norwegian offshore wind industry on the Norwegian shelf. Two will look at the consequences of large-scale offshore wind development for migratory birds, respectively, led by the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA) and the marine ecosystem, led by the Institute of Marine Research.

Aker Solutions ASA will develop prefabrication processes that make it cheaper to build foundations for floating wind turbines. Another project led by the University of Bergen will map the seabed to predict where in the areas Utsira Nord and Søndre Norsjø II it is best suited to anchor floating sea winds.

Here is the full list of the projects that receive support.
