New Commander of Norway's Brigade North
Jørn Qviller has been appointed in Council of State as a brigadier in the Norwegian Army and the new commander of Brigade North.
Qviller takes over command of Norway's Brigade North from Terje Bruøygard, who will be undertaking further education at the Royal College of Defence Studies in London.
"Brigade North will have a very experienced and competent commander in Colonel Jørn Qviller. Qviller has extensive experience from, among other things, foreign operations, has served as a deputy commander of the Intelligence Battallion, Commander of the GSV Ranger Battalion, and Commander of the Finnmark Land Defense," says Chief of the Norwegian Army, Major General Lars S. Lervik, in a press release on Friday.
Qviller comes from the position of head of military strategic section in the Defense Staff.
"He knows the Army's area of operations very well. He has the best prerequisites to further develop our defense plans in close cooperation with the Finnmark Brigade and the Army's other units," says Lervik and continues:
"At the same time, he will continue the build-up of Brigade North with a fourth mechanized battalion, as well as the introduction of new tanks. I wish him the best of luck."
Qviller will assume the position of brigade commander from the time determined by the Ministry of Defense.
