The Northern Fleet Carried Out Exercise to Protect Arctic Territories

The Northern Fleet's forces carried out an exercise on Thursday to protect territories in the Russian Arctic.

The Russian Ministry of Defense writes that the main purpose of the exercises was to map the interaction between the forces and the troops in the fleet when they oppose illegal armed formations and sabotage reconnaissance groups in remote and hard-to-reach places.

Among other things, this applies to landing amphibious assault forces on an unequipped coast, capturing and defending a bridgehead, as well as carrying out rapid operations in the regions of the far north and the Arctic.

Landing of personnel and equipment from the large landing ship "Alexander Otrakovsky" was practiced at Cape Chelyuskin, the northernmost point of the mainland of Eurasia.
