The 12th National Seminar on Snow on the name day of Pyry (blizzard in Finnish) will be held the first time in Rovaniemi, Finland. The seminar is extended to two-day event on 31 October - 1 November 2024 and will be hosted by the Arctic Centre, University of Lapland.

Researchers are also encouraging citizens to report their snow-related observations through various online services. In the National Snow Seminar 2023 the organizers gave an official opening declaration of the winter season.
