The Norwegian Ministry of Oil and Energy has received applications from seven different companies regarding the allocation of new exploration areas in the 25th license round. The round was announced on 19 November 2020 and covers one area in the Norwegian Sea and eight in the Barents Sea.
The companies that have applied are Norwegian Shell, Equinor, Idemitsu, Ineos E&P, Lundin, OMV (Norway) and Vår Energy.
The Ministry aims to award new licenses in the 25th round during the early parts of the year.
