Nunavik has recorded its first COVID-19 death, the region’s health board announced last week, according to Nunatsiaq News.

In an email sent to reporters, the board confirmed a person in Kuujjuaq died from complications caused by the disease on Nov. 19. The board did not offer any details about the individual’s identity.

Last week, the board reported 142 active cases across the region.
