The Norwegian government had requested the National Communications Authority (Nkom) to quickly initiate measures to strengthen digital infrastructure in Finnmark.

Finnmark has seen several major, long-lasting failures in mobile and broadband services in recent years.

Initiatives amounting to NOK 20 to 30 million will be initiated in Finnmark, says Minister of Local Government and Digitalization Linda Hofstad Helleland (Conservatives).

This year, Finnmark receives NOK 90 million to reinforcing electronic communication, which will allow better mobile network coverage in ten municipalities, in areas vital for local crisis management.
