On Friday, Major General Ingrid Margrethe Gjerde was appointed Lt. General and Chief of the Norwegian Defence Staff.

"I will do my best to support the Chief of Defense [Eirik Kristoffersen, journ.note] in solving today's tasks and to strengthen the Armed Forces in a time of demanding security policies. I consider recruiting, retaining, and developing our personnel to be the most important investment area," says Gjerde in a press release from the Norwegian Armed Forces.

Gjerde takes over the job as Chief of the Norwegian Defence Staff after Vice AdmiralElisabeth Natvig.
