Greenland’s Research Minister Siverth K. Heilmann supports the proposal to establish a database to collect all research conducted on the island.
The Sermitsiaq newspaper reports this.
Member of the IA party Mimi Karlsen has launched a proposal requiring the Greenlandic government to investigate the opportunities for establishing an overall research database.
In a response letter from Research Minister Heilmann, he supports the proposal with the intent of creating a meeting place for local and international researchers, public officials, industry and the island’s population. The letter also emphasizes that such a database would provide an overview over research activities and the already existing databases, and it can contribute to improved communication and dissemination of results as well as research needs.
