The Canadian-Icelandic company AEX Gold is planning to resume gold mining in Nalunaq in Greenland. The mine was shut down in 2013 following dropping gold prices and lack of capital.
The gold deposits in the mine are not too big, however, the gold is very pure and the mine may thus be quite profitable, says Managing Director Eldur Olafson of AEX Gold to Sermitsiaq/AG.
The company hopes to start trial production in 2019.
