Greenland at the Center of Large-Scale Research Project

An extensive network of automatized measuring stations placed on and around Greenland is to provide new knowledge about climate changes, according to Sermitsiaq. The research project recently received DKK 35 million from the Danish Ministry of Education and Research and has an overall cost frame of DKK 80 million.

The project is known by the acronym GIOS, Greenland Integrated Observatory System, and is to connect all research actors within the Danish Realm into one network by 2025. GIOS develops and places out a network of measuring stations on and around Greenland.

The project is chaired by Professor Søren Rysgaard and the Arctic Research Center at Aarhus University.
