Tuesday evening the Arctic football team of Bodø/Glimt played one of the biggest matches in Norwegian football history, as Glimt faced Inter Milan at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) in Milan, Italy.

Just under a week ago, Glimt hosted Inter at Aspmyra in Bodø, Northern Norway, for the first leg of the Champions League playoff. Bodø/Glimt won this 3-1 in a sensational match.

The aggregate result from both matches determines which of the two teams advances to the round of 16 in the Champions League.

Glimt stuns Inter again

Glimt is put to the test in the first half. Inter, who currently leads the Italian league serie A, starts the match with significant pressure and several chances.

In the second half, however, Glimt's Jens Petter Hauge scores 1-0 in the 58th minute. Inter's keeper first deflects the ball after a shot from Ole Didrik Blomberg, but Hauge directs the ball in.

After Hauge's goal, Glimt raises their game several notches.

In the 72nd minute, wild scenes unfold at San Siro, when Jens Petter Hauge precisely crosses to Håkon Evjen who is on the run. Evjen beautifully places the ball in Inter's goal.

Inter and Alessandro Bastoni score in the 76th minute. While the score is now 1-2 at San Siro, Inter needs 3 more goals to play extra time.

At the end of the match, Glimt leads 2-1, and after both playoff games, the aggregate score is 5-2 to Glimt. The team from Bodø has done it again!

"The greatest thing a Norwegian team has ever done," say TV2's live commentators.

"We have done something absolutely insane here today," says Glimt's Evjen to TV 2 after the match.

"A fantastic group standing out here. Completely surreal, insanely cool. I don't know what to say," he adds.

Sensational Champions League-play

Glimt has written Norwegian football history in the Champions League this season.

The Arctic football team secured a sensational advancement in the Champions League after a victory against Atletico Madrid at the end of January, and among other things, beat Manchester City 3-1 at Aspmyra earlier in the month.

With a victory at home against Inter last week, Glimt became the first Norwegian team to win in the knockout stages of the prestigious tournament.

Now Glimt will meet either Manchester City or Sporting CP for the round of 16.
