Greenland’s government is open to returning to UTC-3 and abolishing daylight saving time. Greenland’s largest business organisation, Sulisitsisut, has warned against proposed change, according to Greenland’s public proadcaster KNR.

Greenland moved its clock forward by one hour in 2023, shifting from UTC-3 to UTTC-2. Since then, the question of whether to reverse the change has repeatedly been raised in Greenland’s parliament, Inatsisartut.

Under UTC-3, the time difference with Europa would be up to five hours during summer. Sulisitsisut fears that this could reduse connections to European destinations, increase costs for businesses and, in the worst case, cost jobs.

The organisation is therefore urging Inatsisartut to postpone any changes until at least 2028.
