The voyage should have taken place in September, when sea ice extent is at its lowest, states a researcher. The expedition leader responds to the criticism.

"The main objective is that we as a nation have the knowledge we need to manage a new ocean," says Jørgen Berge, Dean and Professor at UiT, the Arctic University of Norway.
