The new rapid response force Upsilon in Tromsø, Northern Norway, has now completed its ‘baptism of fire’ during Operation Havskygge.

"We practiced all the capacities in a complex mission that involved maritime deployment and maneuvers on land," writes the chief of the Nord-Hålogaland Home Guard District (HV-16).

The response force is gradually being supplemented with more personnel as equipment is added. Strengthening surveillance and protection capabilities through the use of drones and anti-drone systems is an important part of the effort, it is stated.

The name Upsilon comes from a series of intelligence operations that took place in Nordland and Troms during World War II, especially against the battleship Tirpitz, in which Tromsø officer Hugo Munthe-Kaas was central.
